Tragic Crash on Lambeth Palace Road

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has opened an urgent investigation after a deadly crash involving a Metropolitan Police van and a pedestrian on Lambeth Palace Road, South East London.

The incident happened at around 6.30pm on Thursday 2 October, near Westminster Bridge. A marked police van collided with a man on foot, who was rushed to hospital with severe injuries but sadly later died.

IOPC Seeks Witnesses to Step Forward

IOPC investigators were swiftly dispatched to the scene and to police post-incident procedures. They have informed the deceased man’s family and will continue to keep them updated as the probe unfolds.

“Our thoughts are with the man’s family, friends and all those affected by his death,” said IOPC director Emily Barry.

“It’s vital we get a full picture of what happened, especially since this took place on a busy London road at early evening when foot and vehicle traffic is high.”

“We urge anyone who saw the crash or what happened just before it to contact us now.”

How to Help the Investigation

If you witnessed the collision or have any information, call IOPC investigators on 0300 303 5588 or email [email protected].
