A notorious shoplifter has landed behind bars for brazenly breaking a strict court order banning him from entering shops across kent–Englandengland/”>Kent.
Repeat Offender Defies Criminal Behaviour Order
Lewis O’Brien, from New Road, england/Chathamchatham/”>Chatham, had been slapped with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) barring him from all Tesco and B&M stores in the county. The order also forbade him from entering any shop carrying a bag.
But O’Brien threw caution to the wind. This month alone, he stormed into B&M on Gillingham street/”>street/”>High Street twice. On one trip, he swiped smart watches, speakers, and a gaming Bridgebridge worth £186.
Multiple Thefts Across Kent
O’Brien didn’t stop there. On 18 September, he hit Tesco on Bridge Road, Sheerness twice, nicking alcohol each time. The very next day, he stole meat valued at nearly £78 from Lidl in Sittingbourne. That’s when police finally caught him red-handed.
Jail Time for Flagrant Court Breaches
At Medway Magistrates’ Court on 22 September, O’Brien pleaded guilty to five CBO breaches and four counts of theft. He was slammed with a 14-week jail sentence. His blatant rubbish attitude to court orders sealed his fate.
Sergeant Paul Relf said: “O’Brien has been on our radar for similar crimes before. His jail time shows how effective CBOs can be. Let that be a warning: break these orders, and you’ll be behind bars fast.”
