Three men have landed behind bars after smashing into three police vehicles during a desperate escape try in Pewsey.
Police Stop Sparks High-Speed Havoc
On November 19, 2024, officers pulled Overover a suspicious vehicle on Swan Road, Pewsey, believed to be sporting stolen number plates. Instead of compliance, the driver crashed head-on into a police car, then reversed into another, before ploughing into a third cruiser trying to Boxbox them in.
Masked Trio Arrested With Crime Gear
The culprit and his two passengers—each masked with balaclavas and gloves—were arrested at the scene. Police recovered tools, a fire extinguisher, and cloned plates inside the car, suggesting the men were prepped for theft or worse.
Winchester Crown Court Hands Down Sentences
- Bernie Ward, 25, of england/south-east/england/south-east/buckinghamshire/”>buckinghamshire/”>Buckinghamshire, nabbed for handling stolen goods, driving dangerously and while disqualified. He’s locked up for 12 months and banned from driving for 30 months.
- John Ward, 22, from Surrey, got 12 months suspended with 120 hours unpaid work for handling stolen goods and being equipped for theft.
- Wesley Ward, 25, from Slough, received a 12-month community order plus 80 hours unpaid work after pleading guilty to preparing for theft.
PC Ellie Lewis said: “These individuals were determined to evade police, damaging three police vehicles in their desperate attempts to flee. Bernie Ward’s reckless driving put officers and the public at serious risk.”
She added: “Thanks to swift coordination between Thames Valley and Wiltshire Police units, including Roads Policing and Dog sections, the suspects were safely caught and arrested. We’ll never know their exact plans, as none have cooperated with investigators.”
