Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a fatal attack at scotland/”>scotland/”>scotland/Charingcharing-Crosscross-scotland/”>Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith.
85-Year-Old Dies After Hospital Assault
On Thursday, 18 September, police were called to the hospital following reports that one patient had assaulted another.
Tragically, the victim, 85-year-old Andrew Farmer from Ealing, died a week later on 25 September from his injuries.
His family have been informed and are receiving ongoing support from specialist officers.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
A 70-year-old man was arrested at the scene shortly after the attack. Anatoliy Podmazko, who has no fixed address, was charged with grievous bodily harm on 20 September.
He is due to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on 17 October as the murder investigation intensifies.
Police continue to work closely with the Crown Prosecution Service as the case develops.

Detective Inspector Kirsten Hadleigh, leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with Andrew’s family and friends at this undoubtedly difficult time.
