england/east-midlands/england/east-midlands/northamptonshire/”>northamptonshire/”>Northamptonshire Police are mourning the loss of PC Faizaan Najeeb, who died a Weekweek after a serious road traffic collision.
Young Officer’s Fatal Crash
PC Najeeb, just 24, was responding to a single vehicle accident on Station Road, Raunds shortly after midnight on September 19. His police vehicle collided with a blue VW Polo, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, but despite doctors’ best efforts, he passed away early on Friday, September 26.
RIP PC Faizaan Najeeb – A Rising Star Cut Short
The officer joined Northamptonshire Police in May 2022 and served with the Response team in Wellingborough. His collar number, P1967, will be retired in his honour – a solemn tribute reserved for officers who die in the line of duty.
Force Launches Investigation; Family Supported
Chief Constable Ivan Balhatchet expressed deep sorrow: “Words cannot describe the sadness felt when an officer loses his life serving in the line of duty.”
He added the Serious Collision Investigation Unit is probing the crash, while family liaison officers continue to support PC Najeeb’s loved ones. An internal health and safety review is also underway.
A man in his 20s arrested at the scene has been bailed pending further inquiries.
Tributes and Remembrance
Northamptonshire Police will hold a two-minute silence next week at their Wootton Hall HQ. Today, a flag flew at half-mast in memory of the fallen officer.
