Young Officer Dies Following Horror Crash
PC Faizaan Najeeb has died a Weekweek after being critically injured in a shocking road collision while responding to an earlier crash in england/east-midlands/england/east-midlands/northamptonshire/”>northamptonshire/”>Northamptonshire.
The 24-year-old officer was rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge after being involved in a crash with a blue VW Polo while attending a single-vehicle collision. Sadly, he passed away on Friday.
Police Launch Investigation, Suspect Arrested
A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and has now been bailed pending further inquiries. Northamptonshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the probe.
PC Najeeb joined the force in 2022 and was a dedicated member of the response team in Wellingborough.
Tributes Pour In for Fallen Officer
The force confirmed PC Najeeb’s collar number, P1967, will be retired as a mark–scotland/”>scotland/”>mark of respect. A two-minute silence will be observed at the force’s Wootton Hall HQ next week. Meanwhile, a flag flies at half-mast.
“Words cannot describe the sadness felt when an officer loses his life serving in the line of duty,” said Chief Constable Ivan Balhatchet.
“The entire Northamptonshire Police family wish to pass on our deepest condolences to his family and friends at this truly awful point in time.”
Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone added: “PC Najeeb’s death is a terrible reminder of the risks police officers face daily.
“My deepest condolences go to his family, friends, and colleagues. His loss will leave a huge impact on the force.”
Ongoing Support and Safety Review
Specialist family liaison officers are offering continuous support to PC Najeeb’s family. An internal health and safety investigation is also underway.
