A 16-year-old from Seaford has appeared at Brightonbrighton Magistrates’ Court, charged with the murder of another 16-year-old boy, Joshua Ingram. The accused also faces a separate charge of possessing a knife.
The Alleged Incident
Prosecutors informed the court that Joshua, who was from england/scotland/”>scotland/newhaven-scotland/”>newhaven/”>Newhaven, was stabbed twice at Seaford railway station on Wednesday evening — once in the Backback and once in the side. He was pronounced dead approximately an hour later, with the court hearing that his injuries were so severe he would have lost his life within minutes. The stabbing is alleged to have occurred over a drug debt.
Court Proceedings
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court this morning. He spoke only to confirm his name, address, and date of birth. His defence solicitor, Rachel Pain, represented him during the brief hearing.
District Judge Amanda Kelly described the case as involving “the tragic and frankly shocking death of another young person.” The defendant has been remanded into youth custody and is scheduled to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Monday, 15 September 2025.
Identifying the Victim & Community Response
The victim, Joshua Ingram, was formally identified as a 16-year-old from Newhaven. His family described him as a “cheeky chappy who was loved by many,” adding that he had been taken “far too soon.”
Police confirmed they believe Joshua and the accused were known to each other and emphasised that this appears to be an isolated incident.
