Two floors of a semi-detached house on St Denys Close in Purley collapsed following a fire that broke out last night. The incident prompted a response from four fire engines and approximately 25 firefighters.
The fire, which started just off england/pampisford/”>Pampisford Road, severely damaged most of the building. The first and second floors on the right-hand side partially collapsed, leading to a 25-metre Cordoncordon being established for safety. Around 20 residents from nearby properties were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
A man managed to exit the building prior to the arrival of the fire brigade and was subsequently taken to hospital by ambulance.
The alarm was raised at 6.02pm, with the fire brought under control by 8.42pm. Fire crews from Purley, wales/Wallingtonwallington-wales/”>Wallington, Croydon, and Woodside were involved in the operation.
The London Fire Brigade has stated that the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
