A multi-agency investigation continues following an explosion in Ealing yesterday.

Police were called to King Street in Southall, at 6.40am on Wednesday, 21 October to reports of an explosion inside a shop.

Officers attended along with London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service.

Emergency services entered the building and sadly, two people were pronounced dead at the scene.

Formal identification has not taken place, and next of kin have not been informed.

Work is ongoing to ensure the building is structurally sound before emergency services are able to fully determine whether there may be further casualties.

An early assessment suspected the cause to be a gas explosion. The exact cause at this time is not yet known.

Police continue to work with partner agencies including the London Fire Brigade and the local authority.

Road closures remain in place and some nearby residents have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Cordons have been extended as a precautionary measure whilst the incident continues to be investigated.
