A 21-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car in Sutton Coldfield late on Friday night, prompting a police investigation and the arrest of two men.
West Midlands Police said officers were called to Brassington Avenue shortly before midnight after a vehicle collided with two pedestrians.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, one of the women died at the scene. The second victim, also in her early 20s, was treated for a leg injury that is not thought to be life-threatening.
Two Men Arrested
Two men were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They remain in custody this morning as detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said:
“Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died at this time.
We are continuing our enquiries and are keen to hear from anyone who was driving near the scene or in the streets nearby before or after the collision happened. Any dashcam or doorbell footage you have would really help our investigation.”
