A person has died after being hit by a train on the Northern line at Old Street Underground station late this morning.
The incident occurred just before 11:20am, prompting a major emergency service response. London Ambulance Service crews, incident response officers, and members of the hazardous area response team attended, along with a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
“Our first paramedic arrived on scene in less than four minutes. Very sadly, despite our best efforts, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
British Transport Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
The Northern line is currently closed between Moorgate and Finsbury Park, with disruption expected until at least 12:45pm.
