Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are urgently appealing for information on the whereabouts of Hassan Mahmood, who fled during his trial for serious child sexual offences.
Following a four-day hearing at Manchester Crown Court, Mahmood, of Gigg Lane, Bury, was found guilty of:
- Engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl under 13
- Causing a child under 13 to watch or look at an image of sexual activity
- Engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under 13
- Engaging in sexual communication with a child
The offences were uncovered during an extensive investigation by the Bury Complex Safeguarding Team.
Police say Mahmood absconded on the second day of his trial and has not been seen since. The trial continued in his absence, and he is now a wanted man.
“We don’t know where Mahmood is, but we are determined to find him no matter where he thinks he can hide,” a GMP spokesperson said.
