Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 40s tragically died in a two-vehicle collision in East Staffordshire.
Emergency services were called shortly after 5pm on Friday (8 August) to the junction of Tutbury Road and Hanbury Road in Hanbury following reports of a crash involving a blue Volkswagen Polo and a yellow Kia Picanto.
Staffordshire Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service, and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
A man and another woman were also taken to hospital but have since been discharged.
Detectives are particularly keen to trace the driver of a red Honda Jazz-type vehicle which, while not directly involved in the crash, was travelling along Hanbury Road towards Anslow Gate at the time and may have vital information.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said:
“We would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision or the events leading up to it, especially the driver of the red Honda Jazz-type vehicle, as they may have witnessed key details that could help our investigation.”
Anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to call 101 quoting incident number 540 of 8 August, or email the Collision Investigation Unit directly at [email protected].
