A man who murdered his housemate by stabbing him in the stomach at their shared home in Acocks Green has been jailed for over 16 years.
Mohammed Ibrhim, aged 45, of Warwick Road, was sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in prison at Birmingham Crown Court after pleading guilty to the murder of Morteza Ajdani, 60.
The Attack and Arrest
Police were called to the Warwick Road property at around 2.35pm on 1 February 2025 after a 999 call reported a serious assault.
Emergency services arrived to find Mr Ajdani with a single stab wound lying unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Despite efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers found three kitchen knives in the sink with the tap running, apparently in an attempt to wash away evidence.
Ibrhim initially told officers that Mr Ajdani had stabbed himself, claiming the victim had “had enough of his life.” However, his version of events quickly fell apart under scrutiny.
CCTV Reveals the Truth
A forensic investigation and CCTV footage from the property revealed that Ibrhim had confronted Mr Ajdani in the kitchen, where he armed himself with a knife before following him into the bathroom.
The footage was crucial in disproving Ibrhim’s claim of suicide and led to him being charged with murder.
Court Proceedings and Sentencing
Ibrhim initially denied the charge, but on 28 July, he changed his plea to guilty during trial proceedings at Birmingham Crown Court.
He was sentenced on 6 August 2025 to 16 years and 8 months imprisonment.
Police Statement
A spokesperson from West Midlands Police said:
“This was a senseless and brutal act that took the life of a man in his own home. Thanks to diligent work from investigators and clear CCTV evidence, we were able to bring Ibrhim to justice.”
