Detectives Appeal for Information After Teenager Stabbed in Newham

Overview

Detectives are appealing for information after a 14-year-old boy was left in a life-threatening condition following a stabbing in Charlemont Road, Newham.


Teenager in Critical Condition

Police and paramedics were called at 4:00pm on Saturday, 26 July to reports of a stabbing. The victim was taken to hospital with serious stab wound injuries, where he remains in a critical condition.

Detective Inspector Joshua Palmer, from the Met’s North East Command Unit, described the attack as “horrific”:

“This was a horrific attack on a teenager, witnessed by numerous members of the public.

At this early stage of the investigation, there doesn’t appear to be an obvious motive.

If you were near Charlemont Road at the time, please check your phone or dashcam footage – it may be crucial to our investigation.”


Arrests Made

Five boys, aged 14 to 17, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Tuesday, 29 July.

  • Four remain in custody for questioning
  • One has been bailed pending further enquiries

Enquiries are ongoing.
