A serious police investigation is underway after a violent incident on Chingford Lane in Woodford, where a female narrowly escaped serious injury and a luxury Audi A3 Sport TFSI S-A was left smashed and hacked apart with a machete and left in the middle of the road.

The incident occurred late on Sunday evening, with the road cordoned off overnight into Monday morning by emergency services.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police have taken over the investigation due to the severity of the attack.

Audi Left Mangled and Bloodied

the scene show the Audi A3 with severe front-end damage, a caved-in windscreen, and both rear side windows shattered.

Notably, the rear window appears to have been hacked apart with a machete, leaving jagged glass edges and visible slashes to the frame.

A large blood splatter was seen on the bonnet, and a blood-soaked cloth was found draped over a nearby brick wall, indicating that someone may have suffered injuries during or shortly after the attack.

Female Victim Escapes Serious Harm

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a shaken woman at the scene shortly after the attack. While full details have yet to be confirmed, it is understood she escaped without serious injury.

Police have not disclosed whether she was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Ongoing Investigation

Scotland Yard has confirmed that specialist detectives are examining the scene and reviewing CCTV footage from surrounding properties and traffic cameras.

Chingford Lane remained closed until mid-morning Monday while investigations continued, causing traffic delays in the Woodford area.
