E-Bike Rider Arrested on Suspicion of Drink-Driving After Collision in Bexleyheath
A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving following a road traffic collision involving an e-bike and a moped outside Better Gym on Broadway in Bexleyheath.
The incident occurred shortly before 5.30pm on Friday, 18 July, and was attended by both Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service.
A 57-year-old man riding a moped was involved in the collision. The e-bike rider was treated for minor injuries at the scene and taken to hospital, before being transferred to police custody.
However, the man was later released with no further action. Police have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing.
Police Statement
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:
“Police were called at 17:27hrs on Friday, 18 July to reports of a road traffic collision between a moped and an e-bike on Broadway, Bexleyheath.
The man on the e-bike was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving. He has since been released with no further action. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Ambulance Service Response
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added:
“We were called at 5.23pm on Friday 18 July to reports of a road traffic collision on Broadway, Bexleyheath.
We treated a patient and took them to hospital as a priority.”
