British Transport Police have launched a public appeal to identify a man following a violent assault on board a South Western Railway train travelling between Surbiton and Basingstoke.
The incident occurred between 11:40pm on Saturday 14 June and just after midnight on Sunday 15 June.
According to officers, the victim had fallen asleep on the late-night train when he was abruptly woken by water being poured over his feet. Upon reacting, the suspect allegedly threatened to punch the man if he made any further noise — before carrying out the threat and repeatedly assaulting him.
Passengers Tried to Intervene
Other passengers attempted to step in and defuse the situation, but the victim was reportedly punched multiple times.
The victim got off the train at Walton-on-Thames, while the suspect is believed to have exited at Weybridge.
