Default Heading H1
The young man fatally stabbed outside a Wetherspoon pub in east London has been named locally as Tyler Haywood, 26. His devastated mother has paid tribute, saying she has “never known this pain,” as a murder investigation and manhunt for his killer continues.
Tyler was attacked outside the Kings Ford Wetherspoon on Chingford Mount Road (E4) just after 9pm on Sunday, 6 July.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, including paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance, but despite their best efforts and the heroic actions of pub staff who rushed to his aid with a defibrillator, Tyler was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Community in Mourning
Floral tributes now mark the pavement where the stabbing occurred, as forensic officers and homicide detectives from the Met Police Specialist Crime Command continue to examine the scene.
A blue and white forensic tent remains in place outside the pub, and the road is still under police cordon.
Locals have described Tyler as a “peaceful character” who was well-known and respected in the area.
One local business owner said:
“He was in my shop just hours earlier. A really polite guy. This makes no sense. He didn’t deserve this.”
Another witness described seeing “people from the pub running out with a defibrillator” and “doing everything they could to save him.”
Heartbreaking Tribute from Mother
Tyler’s mother, Maria Haywood, posted a heartfelt message on Facebook:
“26 years of loving you and now all I want is one more day, hour or even just a few minutes. I don’t understand how anyone can stand this kind of pain… My son. My heart. My world. Your mum forever.”
Police Appeal
Police say they were alerted by members of the public and arrived on scene within minutes. However, no arrests have yet been made.
Chief Superintendent Dan Card, responsible for policing in Waltham Forest, said:
“We are deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence. Our thoughts are with Tyler’s family and friends.
“There will be increased patrols in the area to offer reassurance to the community.”
Investigators are focusing on a Sheesha bar opposite the pub and are conducting door-to-door inquiries. CCTV and mobile phone footage are being collected.
