Tragic Update: Body Found in Search for Missing Soldier Alex from Perham Down

A body has been discovered in the search for 30-year-old Alex, a soldier who was reported missing after leaving Tidworth Camp on Sunday afternoon (July 6).

The tragic discovery was made at around 6pm this evening, near Warren Hill, following an extensive search operation involving military personnel, police, and volunteers.

While formal identification is still to be completed, the body is believed to be that of Alex Cairnie. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson confirmed:

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. A file will now be prepared for the coroner.”

Detective Inspector Mark Kent said:

“Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of Alex at this extremely difficult time.

“I would also like to express our thanks to all those who supported the search efforts.”

Alex was last seen leaving Tidworth Camp on Sunday morning, prompting a public appeal and coordinated search involving military colleagues, Wiltshire Police, and local residents.
