Lee Hampton, of Hollingbourne, was convicted of seven counts of rape, four counts of assault by penetration, and two counts of administering a substance with intent. The offences took place over nearly four years, between January 2017 and October 2020, in the Swindon area.

Repeated Drugging and Sexual Abuse

Throughout the period of abuse, Hampton would crush sleeping pills and hide them in cold and flu tablets or attempt to spike the victim’s food, before raping her while she was unconscious.

He also filmed and photographed his assaults, later sharing the material with third parties, police said.

The victim, a woman in her 30s, reported Hampton’s actions to police after uncovering the abuse, launching a complex and emotionally challenging investigation that ultimately led to his conviction.

Victim Statement: "I Don’t Know Who I Am Anymore"

In a powerful Victim Personal Statement read in court, the woman said:

"The psychological damage cannot begin to be put into words.

I worry for my future—that I will never be able to trust anyone again, that I will never enjoy a healthy relationship again, that I will never be me.

I still have daily flashbacks and nightmares."

Police Praise Victim’s "Unwavering Bravery"

Detective Constable Kolasinski, who led the investigation, said:

"There is no place in society for the horrific criminality that has taken place here.

It represents some of the worst behaviour imaginable in humanity.

I would like to thank the victim for her unwavering bravery during this investigation and subsequent trial. Her courage should inspire others to come forward."

He also paid tribute to Complex Crime Investigator Gemma Sole, who supported the victim throughout the investigation before leaving the Force.

Sentencing Awaited

Lee Hampton remains in custody and will be sentenced at a later date.
