A man has been jailed for life after launching a brutal attempted murder on his wife, during which he shot at her with a bow and stabbed her six times.
Stephen Carr, 57, of Strensall, was convicted of attempted murder following the shocking domestic attack. The court heard how Carr used a bow to fire multiple arrows at his wife before attacking her further with a knife.
His victim survived the ordeal despite sustaining serious, life-threatening injuries.
Carr was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 17 years.
Judge Condemns “Cold and Calculated” Attack
During sentencing, the judge described the attack as “cold and calculated”, noting that Carr had used weapons deliberately to inflict maximum harm.
The case was treated as domestic abuse of the highest severity, and police praised the victim’s courage in surviving the attack and supporting the prosecution.
