Wiltshire Police have launched a major investigation following the death of a man found seriously injured outside a property on Manchester Road in Swindon in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were called at around 5:10am to reports of a man, believed to be in his 20s, discovered with serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital for urgent treatment but sadly died a short time later.
Cordon in Place – Road Fully Closed
A cordon remains in place and Manchester Road is fully closed while detectives and forensic teams carry out extensive enquiries. Officers are working to identify the victim’s next of kin.
Public Appeal – Electric Bike Witness Sought
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker, leading the investigation, said:
"This is a serious incident which has sadly resulted in a man losing his life.
An investigation is ongoing and we are keeping an open mind about the circumstances that led to his death.
We are particularly keen to speak with a male who was riding an electric bike and initially approached officers at the scene but left without leaving his details."
No Terrorism Link
Addressing local concerns, DCI Walker added:
"We appreciate the concern the public will have, especially given the recent terrorism arrest in the area. However, it’s important to stress that there is no information to suggest this incident is linked."
