Police have launched an investigation after gunshots were reported in Beulah Road, Thornton Heath, with witnesses seeing two men fleeing the scene on a moped.
The Metropolitan Police were called at 6:34pm following reports of gunfire and a man seen with a weapon in the residential area. Officers responded swiftly, carrying out a search of the local area.
No Injuries, No Arrests So Far
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, and no arrests have been made at this early stage. The suspects had already fled by the time police arrived.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
“We were called to reports of gunshots being heard and a man in possession of a weapon at Beulah Road, Thornton Heath.
Two men were seen fleeing on a moped. Officers attended and carried out a thorough search of the local area.
No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made. An investigation is ongoing.”
Community Reassurance Patrols Underway
Police have acknowledged the concern caused within the community and confirmed that there will be an increased police presence in the area while enquiries continue.
