A man has been arrested in Brighton following reports of a stabbing and knife incident on Marine Parade on Tuesday morning (2 July). A large police response remains in place, with multiple crime scenes cordoned off in the area.
Sussex Police confirmed they were called shortly before 9:30am after a member of the public reported a man seen with a knife in the Marine Parade area.
A photo shared with Sussex News shows officers detaining a suspect on Madeira Drive, just moments after the initial call.
Victim Taken to Hospital
In a statement, a Sussex Police spokesperson said:
“Police received a report of a man with a knife in Marine Parade, Brighton, shortly before 9.30am on July 2.
Officers attended and a man was arrested and taken into police custody.
We are aware of a report of a stabbing nearby, and a man has been taken to hospital. The incident is being treated as linked.”
The condition of the victim has not yet been confirmed. Police have not released further details regarding the suspect or the events leading up to the stabbing.
Multiple Cordons and Ongoing Investigation
Officers remain at the scene this morning, with several cordons in place around Marine Parade and Madeira Drive as investigators work to establish the full circumstances.
The public is being urged to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
