A serious police investigation is underway in Romford after a 15-year-old girl was raped late on Sunday night.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called at 23:36hrs on Sunday, 22 June to reports of a sexual assault on St Edmund’s Way, Romford. Upon arrival, officers found a 15-year-old girl who disclosed she had been raped.
The teenager is receiving specialist support and is being cared for by trained officers. A crime scene remains cordoned off at the location, and forensic teams have been seen working through the night.
In a statement, police acknowledged the alarm this incident has caused locally. “We understand the concern this has caused in the community and people can expect to see an increased police presence in the area,” a spokesperson said.
No arrests have yet been made, and the Metropolitan Police have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing. Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward and help with enquiries.
