A major building fire and suspected explosion have closed Scrubs Lane (A219) in both directions between North Pole Road (B412) and Harrow Road (A404) in North Kensington, west London.
Emergency services, including 12 fire engines, were called to St Quintin View on North Pole Road, West London, shortly after 11.30pm on Friday 20 June, following reports of an explosion from a flat above the property.
A source at scene for the London Fire Brigade confirmed that a “six-pump fire” is in progress and that “persons are reported” to be inside the affected property. Specialist crews are currently working to bring the situation under control.

Witness Reports
Local residents reported hearing a “loud bang” before smoke began pouring from the upper floors of the building.
One resident near the scene posted: “We heard a massive boom and saw flames coming out of a flat window – emergency services arrived within minutes.”

Two flat on the second floor, in a residential block of three floors, are currently alight.
The Brigade received the first of 13 calls reporting the incident at 2326. Control Officers have mobilised crews from North Kensington, Hammersmith, Kensington and surrounding fire stations to the scene.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Further update fron the London Fire Brigade at 12.0am: Twelve fire engines and around 60 firefighters are responding to a fire on North Pole Road, North Kensington.
Two flat on the second floor, in a residential block of three floors, are currently alight. One of the Brigade’s 32 metre ladders has been deployed to the scene.
The Brigade received the first of 13 calls reporting the incident at 2326. Control Officers have mobilised crews from North Kensington, Hammersmith, Kensington and surrounding fire stations to the scene.
