A teenager has been taken to hospital after being rescued from Southmere Lake near Bazalgette Way in Thamesmead early Thursday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene just before 12:30pm after reports that a person had entered the water.
Member of Public Rescues Teen Before Fire Crews Arrive
According to a spokesperson from London Fire Brigade (LFB), the individual was rescued by a member of the public before fire crews arrived.
“The Brigade was called at 12.34pm to Southmere Lake after reports of a person in the water,” the LFB said in a statement.
“The person was rescued by a member of the public before the Brigade arrived and was treated by London Ambulance Service crews at the scene.
“The incident was under control by 1.08pm.”
Teen Taken to Hospital as Priority
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed their teams were on scene within minutes of the call.
“We were called at 12.29pm today (19 June) to reports of a person in water near Bazalgette Way, SE2.
“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews and an incident response officer.
“We treated a teenager at the scene and took them to hospital as a priority.”
The teenager’s current condition remains unclear, and further updates are awaited from the Metropolitan Police, who have also been contacted for comment.
