British Airways flight to Chennai forced to return to Heathrow after flap failure

A British Airways flight to Chennai was forced to return to Heathrow Airport shortly after takeoff today following a flap adjustment failure onboard.

Flight #BA35, operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (reg: G-ZBJG), departed Heathrow bound for Chennai (MAA) but quickly reported a technical issue after departure.

The flight crew declared the issue and entered a holding pattern to dump fuel over the southeast of England for over an hour. Emergency services were placed on standby at Heathrow.

The aircraft safely landed back at LHR at just before 2pm on Sunday 15th June 2025, and all passengers disembarked without incident.
