A minute of silence will be held at Ramsgate Pride in memory of Fiongal Greenlaw and Jamie Meek, a couple who ran a wellness business in Lambeth and Ramsgate and were among the passengers killed in the tragic Air India flight AI171 crash on 12 June.
The couple, known for their work through The Wellness Foundry on Black Prince Road, Lambeth, and in Ramsgate, were due to run wellbeing workshops during Saturday’s Ramsgate Pride festivities.
Wellness Foundry Founders Among Crash Victims
Passenger lists shared online confirm that Fiongal and Jamie were on board the London-bound Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad Airport. All but one of the 242 people on board were killed.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has confirmed that 53 British nationals were among the victims.
Fiongal, who founded The Wellness Foundry in 2018, described his work as the result of a “profound spiritual awakening.” Jamie joined as co-director and head of events in March 2023.
Ramsgate Pride Pays Tribute
In a heartfelt tribute, Ramsgate Pride organisers shared:
“The Ramsgate Pride team are devastated at the loss of Jamie and Fiongal. We only heard from them earlier in the day and they were so excited to get back to take part in Pride and run their workshops throughout the day.”
“Jamie was already thinking of ideas to expand the wellbeing zone next year. We were so privileged to have such a lovely couple on the team who were so passionate and enthusiastic about Pride and the town of Ramsgate. They will be so very missed.”
The minute’s silence will be observed after the Pride march at the community stage outside Perico Lounge. Organisers are also urging anyone affected by the tragedy to seek support.
