A serving Sussex Police officer has been charged with four counts of sexual assault by touching, following an investigation into allegations involving four women.
PC Ryan Busby, aged 25, is accused of carrying out the alleged offences while off duty on 20 December 2024. All four women are understood to be known to him personally.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorised the charges after reviewing evidence gathered during the investigation.
Court Appearance Scheduled
PC Busby, who is currently suspended from duty, is scheduled to appear at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 8 July 2025.
A Sussex Police spokesperson confirmed the charges:
“We take all allegations made against serving officers extremely seriously. The officer remains suspended while the criminal process takes place.”
Investigation and Oversight
The matter was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). After review, the IOPC directed Sussex Police’s Professional Standards Department to carry out a local investigation into the alleged misconduct.
The case is now progressing through the courts, and Sussex Police has said it will fully cooperate with the legal process.
