A police investigation has been launched after a body was discovered in the back of a vehicle at an industrial estate near Gatwick Airport, Sussex Police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to Whittle Way in the Northgate area of Crawley at around 10:30am on Thursday morning (6 June), following reports of a body inside a parked vehicle.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been formally confirmed, and officers say efforts are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
A cordon remains in place at the site, with forensics teams working throughout the day as part of the inquiry. Access to parts of the industrial estate has been restricted, and the immediate area remains closed to the public while police carry out their investigation.
In a brief statement, Sussex Police said:
"Officers were called to Whittle Way in Crawley shortly after 10:30am on Thursday, June 6, following the discovery of a body in the rear of a vehicle. A full investigation is under way and the area remains secured. No further information is available at this stage."
Local businesses reported a heightened police presence, with several marked vehicles and specialist teams observed on scene throughout the afternoon.
