Elderly Woman Injured in Violent Home Invasion by Masked Intruder in Storrington

A 77-year-old woman has been left with facial injuries following a terrifying home invasion by a masked intruder in the Ravenscroft area of Storrington, police have confirmed.

Victim Assaulted in Her Own Home

The shocking incident occurred at around 9.45pm on Friday, 16 May, when an unknown man wearing a balaclava forced his way into the victim’s home before physically attacking her. The elderly resident sustained injuries to her face during the assault.

Sussex Police said the suspect fled the scene shortly after the attack. At this stage, the motive remains unclear, and officers are continuing to examine all lines of enquiry.

Man Arrested and Bailed

A 39-year-old man from Storrington has since been arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage in connection with the incident. He has been bailed with conditions until 19 July pending further investigation.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage

Sussex Police are urging members of the public who were in the Ravenscroft area on the evening of 16 May and who may have witnessed suspicious activity or have CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage, to come forward.

“This was a distressing incident that has left the victim shaken and injured. We’re asking for anyone who saw anything unusual that evening, or has footage that may assist, to contact us,” said a police spokesperson.
