An 18-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the brutal stabbing of 36-year-old Tyrone Pinnock in Brent, following a swift investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
Kevin Kelenda, of Kenton Park Crescent, Harrow, was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 17 years at Wood Green Crown Court on Monday, 19 May 2025.
In addition to the murder charge, Kelenda was sentenced to an 18-month detention and training order for possession of a bladed article.
Brutal and Unprovoked Attack
The fatal stabbing took place on the evening of Thursday, 19 October 2023. At approximately 6:42pm, police were flagged down by a member of the public who had discovered Tyrone Pinnock suffering from stab injuries on Kensal Road, W10.
Despite immediate first aid from officers and the arrival of London Ambulance Service paramedics, Tyrone died at the scene.
An extensive investigation was launched by the Met’s Homicide Command. CCTV footage and forensic evidence confirmed Kelenda had followed Tyrone from nearby Kensal Rise, confronted him, and stabbed him in the chest using a lock knife.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
Detective’s Statement
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke, who led the investigation, said:
“Tyrone was killed in a brutal, cold-blooded assault which lasted only seconds, but was so severe that he died at the scene.
Our thoughts remain with Tyrone’s friends and family as they attempt to move forward with their lives, now knowing that Kelenda is behind bars where he belongs.”
