West Yorkshire Police have launched an urgent appeal to identify a man in connection with a violent assault on a taxi driver in Bingley. The incident, which occurred on Littlelands at around 3:30am on Saturday, 12 April 2025, left the victim with facial injuries and his vehicle damaged.
Taxi Driver Assaulted Over Fare Dispute
According to Bradford District Police, the assault followed a dispute between the driver and a male passenger over a fare. The suspect reportedly punched the driver, causing facial injuries, and damaged the taxi before fleeing the scene on foot.
The taxi driver was treated for his injuries and is recovering. Police are treating the case as a serious assault, and an active investigation is underway.
A 2022 report by the Department for Transport flagged rising concerns over taxi driver safety and recommended the introduction of in-car CCTV and emergency alert systems—measures that could prove vital in cases like this.
