Late-Night Blaze Hits PM’s Private Home as Arson Investigation Launched

A late-night fire broke out at a residential property in North West London understood to be owned by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, prompting a swift response from the London Fire Brigade and Met Police.

Emergency crews were called to the home at 1.11am on Monday, 12 May, with flames reportedly seen at the front entrance of the property. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the blaze was brought under control within 22 minutes.

Urgent Investigation Launched

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers were alerted at 1.35am by LFB and quickly attended the scene. A cordon remains in place this afternoon as detectives investigate the cause of the fire.

A Met Police spokesperson said:

“On Monday, 12 May at 01:35hrs, police were alerted by the London Fire Brigade to reports of a fire at a residential address. Damage was caused to the property’s entrance. Nobody was hurt. The fire is being investigated and cordons remain in place while enquiries continue.”

Emergency Services Praised

A No.10 spokesperson added:

“The Prime Minister thanks the emergency services for their work. The incident is subject to a live investigation and we will therefore not be commenting further.”

Two fire engines from Kentish Town Fire Station attended the call, and the London Fire Brigade confirmed the blaze was fully extinguished by 1.33am.

Property Linked to PM

The property, which Sir Keir Starmer and his wife Victoria previously used as their family home, remains privately owned though the couple now reside in 10 Downing Street.

The couple famously clapped for the NHS outside the home during the Covid lockdown.

Public Appeal

Detectives are urging anyone with information or footage that could assist the inquiry to contact them:

Call 101, quoting reference CAD 441/12 May.

Political Timing

The incident occurred just hours before the Prime Minister unveiled Labour’s landmark immigration overhaul, sparking speculation online about the fire’s potential motive — though police have not commented on this.
