Capital Chaos as Power Outage Paralyzes the Tube Network
A mass power failure has plunged parts of the London Underground into disarray, suspending multiple lines and leaving thousands of commuters stranded.
Transport for London (TfL) confirmed that a brief but widespread outage has affected key sections of the network, forcing the suspension of several Tube lines and causing severe delays across others — just hours before the evening rush.

Reports from Paddington and Tottenham Court Road suggest evacuations, with staff advising passengers that “the entire London Underground is down.”
Power Restored – But Chaos Remains
A TfL spokesperson confirmed that the “brief outage” has now been resolved and power restored. However, the cause remains under investigation, and services remain severely disrupted.
The National Grid has been informed and is working with TfL to identify the root of the issue.
On the Ground: “Everything Is a Mess”
Frustrated commuters have taken to social media to vent their anger. One passenger at High Street Kensington told UKNIP
“Everything is a mess. I need to get to Liverpool Street and I’ve got no clue what to do.”
TfL’s website also crashed during the outage, adding to the confusion.
Stansted Express Also Hit by Separate Line-side Fire
In a separate incident, the Stansted Express has been suspended due to a line-side fire near Tottenham Hale, affecting services to Hertford East, Stansted Airport and Cambridge.
