The body of a woman has been recovered from the River Lee Navigation in East London, prompting a major police investigation.
Metropolitan Police officers were called to the canal near Homerton at around 11.40am on Wednesday, 7th May. Tragically, the woman, believed to be in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman’s identity has not yet been confirmed, and officers are working to notify next of kin. A crime scene remains in place, and enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.
At this time, no arrests have been made.
