Three men have been arrested after Gardaí uncovered a major drugs haul worth an estimated €500,000 in Limerick city.
Officers from the Limerick Divisional Drug Unit, supported by regional units, initially stopped a vehicle in the Galvone area on Wednesday. A search of the car uncovered €30,000 worth of cannabis herb.
Following the discovery, Gardaí conducted a follow-up search at a nearby premises where they seized approximately €350,000 worth of cannabis, €150,000 worth of cocaine, nearly €30,000 in cash, close to 200 rounds of firearms ammunition, and a significant quantity of drug-related paraphernalia.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed:
Three men, two in their 40s and one in his 30s, have been arrested in connection with these seizures.
The men are currently being detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
The investigation is ongoing, with Gardaí describing the operation as a major blow to organised criminal activity in the region.
