Emergency services rushed to Eastbourne town centre on Saturday morning, following reports of a knife attack on Terminus Road at around 7.30am.
A 30-year-old man was found with serious but not life-threatening injuries. He received treatment at the scene from paramedics before being taken to hospital for further medical care.
Initially, Sussex Police arrested a 20-year-old man and a 27-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH). However, after further investigation, both individuals were released with no further action and are now being treated as witnesses rather than suspects.
A Sussex police spokesperson said:
“There will be increased patrols in the area while police continue their enquiries and to provide reassurance to the public. Further CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.”
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
Reports can be made online or by calling 101, quoting reference 374 of 03/05.
The investigation remains active, and residents should expect an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.
