A man has been arrested and charged following a dramatic police pursuit in Erdington involving a stolen and cloned car, officers from the Road Crime Team have confirmed.
The vehicle, which had been reported stolen during a recent burglary, was spotted by police in the Erdington area. Officers acted swiftly, deploying a pre-emptive stinger to puncture the vehicle’s tyres and bring it to a stop.
Despite the stinger’s success, the driver attempted to evade capture by fleeing on foot. However, he was quickly arrested by pursuing officers.
Upon his arrest, officers discovered that the suspect was carrying a knife. Further investigation linked him to multiple burglaries and other offences.
A police spokesperson said:
Thanks to the quick thinking and actions of the Road Crime Team, a dangerous suspect was apprehended safely.
A weapon was recovered, and a number of burglary offences have now been attributed to him.”
The man has since been charged with multiple burglary counts, vehicle offences, and possession of a bladed article.
