A man from High Wycombe has been jailed for more than five years following a Thames Valley Police investigation into drug dealing in the town.
Sharakat Ali, 45, of Chairborough Road, was sentenced to five years and seven months in prison at Aylesbury Crown Court on Thursday, April 17.
Ali pleaded guilty to two charges — possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession with intent to supply heroin.
During court proceedings, Ali attempted to argue that exceptional circumstances should be considered in his sentencing, claiming he had been a victim of modern-day slavery. Despite his claims, the court proceeded with the custodial sentence.
The investigation, led by Thames Valley Police, uncovered evidence of Ali’s involvement in the supply of Class A drugs, which has been an ongoing concern in the Wycombe area.
A police spokesperson said:
“This sentence sends a clear message that we will not tolerate the supply of harmful substances in our communities. Drug-dealing ruins lives, and we are committed to bringing those responsible to justice.”
Members of the public are encouraged to report suspicious behaviour or concerns about drug activity via the Thames Valley Police website or by calling 101. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
