Music streaming giant Spotify experienced its second outage in less than a week on Monday, with nearly 2,000 user reports flooding outage tracking website Downdetector in the early afternoon.
The service disruption began around 2:15 p.m. ET, with 1,946 reports of problems primarily from users in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Seattle. While the number had slightly decreased by 2:26 p.m. to 1,767, frustrated users continued posting about the platform being inaccessible.
“Spotify down yet again,” one user commented.
Another simply said: “Oops.”
The issues follow a widespread outage on April 16, when tens of thousands of users reported that the app and desktop versions failed to load or stream music. Spotify addressed that incident on X (formerly Twitter), assuring users that security breach rumours were false and the issue was being resolved.
In that case, the company restored service by 11:45 a.m. ET, about five hours after the problems began. Monday’s glitch appears to be less severe, with only 107 reports by 2:45 p.m. ET, suggesting that service was quickly stabilised.
As of publishing, Spotify has not issued a public statement regarding the latest technical issues.
Spotify, headquartered in Sweden, has over 675 million users worldwide, including 263 million paying subscribers, making it the world’s most popular music streaming service.
Users affected are encouraged to monitor Spotify Status on X or visit downdetector.com for real-time updates.
