Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses after a 27-year-old woman was seriously injured in a motorbike collision caused by a falling tree branch in Crawley Down.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:50am on Friday, 18 April, on Barns Court, off Turners Hill Road. According to officers, the motorcyclist lost control after a branch fell onto her and the vehicle, causing a crash that left her with serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the rider was taken to hospital, where she remains under medical care. Her condition has not yet been publicly updated.
Police Seeking Dashcam Footage and Eyewitnesses
Police are now working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. In particular, they are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident—or captured it on dashcam or helmet cam footage—to come forward.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said:
“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the incident or has relevant footage from the area around the time of the collision. This includes any information about the condition of the tree or the road leading up to the crash.”
The investigation will look at whether weather conditions or other environmental factors contributed to the falling branch.
