Emergency services rushed to the scene of a double-decker bus fire on Hamstreet Road, Ashford, on Thursday, April 17, after flames engulfed the vehicle shortly before 3pm.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service received the call at 2:57pm and swiftly dispatched two fire engines to the scene. Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, tackled the blaze using high-pressure hose reel jets and brought it under control by 3:59pm.
No Injuries Reported
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. All passengers and the driver were able to safely evacuate the bus before it was consumed by flames.
Cause Unknown
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and investigations may follow to determine how the fire started. Kent Police also attended the scene to assist with traffic management and safety.
The incident caused temporary disruption along Hamstreet Road but the area has since reopened to traffic.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service praised the swift response of their crews, who were able to contain the fire quickly and safely.
