An investigation has been launched after skeletal remains were discovered near Worlds End Road in Greensforge, Staffordshire.
Staffordshire Police confirmed they were called to the scene at approximately 3.25pm on Wednesday, April 16, after a member of the public made the shocking discovery on open land in the area.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said:
"At around 3.25pm on Wednesday, April 16, we were called to reports of skeletal remains found by a member of the public on land near to Worlds End Road, Greensforge.
At this time, the remains have not been identified.
A scene has been put in place while we carry out early stage enquiries and establish the full circumstances."
Public Asked to Help
The area remains cordoned off as officers and forensic teams work to gather evidence and determine how the remains came to be there.
Police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. Witnesses or anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact Staffordshire Police by calling 101, using Live Chat on the police website, and quoting incident number 401 of April 16.
Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
