Kent Police are appealing for witnesses following a disturbing assault on a woman in her 70s in Herne Bay earlier this week.
The incident took place at approximately 1.50pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, on Blackburn Road in the Greenhill area. The victim reported being approached by a group of three to four teenage boys, one of whom was carrying a skateboard. The youths allegedly squirted a liquid at her from a bottle and subjected her to racial abuse before fleeing the scene.
Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to a local hospital for medical attention. She has since been discharged. Authorities confirmed that the liquid was not corrosive, but the emotional and psychological impact of the attack is being taken seriously.
All the suspects are described as white males, aged between 14 and 15 years old.
Kent Police say house-to-house enquiries are ongoing, and additional policing powers were used in the area following the incident. A number of individuals were searched as part of these measures.
Detective Chief Inspector Keith Taylor said:
“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact us. Motorists with dashcam or residents with private CCTV are also urged to check for relevant footage.
Incidents like these are very rare but we do not underestimate the impact it can have on a community. As a result, an increased police presence will be seen in the area as we continue our investigation.”
No arrests have been made at this stage.
