A violent acid attack in Plymouth has sparked a major criminal investigation, leading to charges against seven individuals in connection with a suspected organised crime plot involving conspiracy to kidnap, conspiracy to murder, and money laundering.
The attack occurred in the early hours of 21 February 2025, when Devon & Cornwall Police were called to a property on Lipson Road at around 3:55 a.m.. A man in his 30s was found with serious injuries after being attacked with a corrosive substance. He remains in hospital in serious condition.
The Accused
Seven people have been charged and will appear before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on 12 April 2025:

Each faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to kidnap and murder between 7 and 20 January 2025, and laundering proceeds of crime. Some charges extend the conspiracy period to 22 February 2025, indicating links to the acid attack. All are also accused of participation in an organised crime group dating back to July 2023, under the Serious Crime Act 2015 and Criminal Law Act 1977.
Additional Suspect
An eighth suspect, Israel Augustus, 25, of Pulford Road, London, was charged separately in March 2025. He is accused of applying a destructive substance with intent to cause harm and organised crime involvement. He will appear at Plymouth Crown Court on 16 June 2025.
Police Operations
The case is the result of a coordinated operation between Devon & Cornwall Police and the Metropolitan Police, reflecting the cross-regional scope of the alleged criminal network. On 10 April, six male suspects were arrested at various London addresses, while Jenna O’Grady was apprehended in Plymouth.
Authorities have not released the motive for the attack or updates on the victim’s condition, citing the active investigation.
