Police in Kirklees have launched a murder investigation after a 16-year-old boy tragically died following a stabbing incident in Huddersfield yesterday.
Emergency services were called to Ramsden Street, located in the town centre, around 2:45 pm on Thursday, April 3, after reports of a stabbing. Officers attended the scene and found the teenage victim with a serious injury to his neck. He was immediately taken to hospital, but despite medical efforts, he sadly died from his injuries.
Arrests Made
Following the incident, police arrested a 20-year-old man from Kirkburton on suspicion of murder. In addition, a 22-year-old man from Kirkburton and a 20-year-old woman from Huddersfield were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three individuals remain in police custody for questioning.
A police presence remains at the scene on New Street and Ramsden Street as detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack.
Police Statement
Detective Chief Inspector Damian Roebuck, who is leading the investigation, said:
“This is a tragic incident where a young man has lost his life as a result of a knife injury. We have a team of dedicated detectives who are at the scene and investigating this fatal attack.”
He added:
“Our initial investigations do indicate that it was an isolated incident, and local neighbourhood officers are carrying out reassurance patrols in the area.”
