Firefighters from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are currently tackling a large fire at a commercial property on the Shadsworth Industrial Estate, Sett End Road, Blackburn.
The blaze, which involves a significant quantity of plastic, prompted a multi-agency response as teams work together to contain the fire and minimize its impact.
Smoke and Safety Precautions
As of 11:00 am, the incident has been scaled down to four fire engines and an aerial ladder platform. Firefighters have managed to reduce the smoke plume significantly. However, as contractors on-site continue to excavate the plastic, the smoke may fluctuate in both volume and color.
Residents and drivers in the vicinity are advised to keep their windows and doors closed if they can see or smell smoke, to protect against potential respiratory issues.
Efforts to Contain the Blaze
Emergency services are working in collaboration to bring the situation under control as swiftly as possible. Authorities continue to monitor the area, and the public is urged to follow safety advice.
